Cotton warehouse inspection reports, 1930-1936.

The Markets, Public Gins and Warehousing Division was responsible for the inspection and supervision of all state bonded warehouses that stored cotton. Inspectors were responsible for checking cotton receipts as well as the general condition of the warehouses. (1927 Agric. Code, Article 34, Section 397; Ala. Code, Title 2, Section 577, [1958]). These reports were used to check the quantity of cotton bales in the warehouse against the cancelled and current receipts for the cotton. Information provided in the reports includes the name of the warehouse, permit number, amount of bond and name of the bond holder, the monthly receipt figures, date of inspection, name of inspector, and findings (i.e., condition and number of bales.).
